On Friday my sister, my mummy and I had the pleasure of watching my cousin Paul and his beautiful wife Hannah get hitched. Aww what a day, Hannah looked amazing in her Suzanne Neville dress and of course Paul looked just as handsome! The wedding reception was held in the beautiful Slieve Donard Resort and Spa in Newcastle, Northern Ireland and it was the most beautiful Autumn day which just was the icing on the Wedding cake (sorry).
What I wore…
OMG! If you had of seen me this day last week, I wasn’t going to any wedding. Basically I had bought a fab jumpsuit (well fab on the model) and thought I would just get it altered as I knew it didn’t come it Petite. How wrong was I!! The jumpsuit came, I tried it on and it was too big as expected but still I thought I could just get it altered. However something in the back of my mind was telling me that it wasn’t for me but of course I ignored it. I brought it to the dressmaker and as soon as I put it on I just knew this jumpsuit was wearing me instead of the other way around and my dressmaker basically said the same thing. Basically I would be paying the same amount to get it altered and still not being 100% sure that it was for me. So I just made the decision to scrap it….yes! One week before the wedding!! Shit! What am I going to do now? Basically the moral of this story, as much as I say I use a dressmaker to alter bits and bobs, they aren’t miricle workers and we have to accept that not everything in regular sizing can just be “turned up” or “taken in”. Unless you are willing to spend a fortune and get the garment completely resized…send that outfit back!!
Anyway back to what I did wear, so in my mad panic and rapid internet searching, I turned to friends to see what I could beg borrow and steal! Yes, I could probably just wore something I have, but how often to you get glammed up and when you have stylish friends like mine, I knew I would find something. I ended up wearing a pair of gorge wide leg red trousers with a fab split feature down each leg from my friend Claire. You know me, I’ll find a way to wear a trouser to any event! The trousers were from Topshop, I think they are sold out otherwise I would have linked them. I teamed them with a black velvet one shoulder bodysuit from prettylittlething.com on ASOS and just some strapping shoes from Caris Closet. I finished it off with a fab headpiece and clutch bag from my loves at The Walk In Wardrobe.
For my hair I opted for a simply curly blow dry from Shaleen McDonald. I just love a curly blow dry, it’s so simple yet effective and always makes me feel like I’m ready to go. My make up was done by Nicole Kinley @nicole_kinley she is the best, I’m so particular with my make up and she does it to perfection. She went for a rose gold smokey eye and a red lip. Honestly my make up didn’t budge the whole day, I didn’t even have to powder my face and I would have quite oily skin. She is just brilliant.
So there you have it, I just thought I would give you a little run down of my outfit and also let you in on a little lesson I learnt too. Hope you enjoyed reading.
